The nights are getting a little bit cooler and the days a little shorter. That means winter is quickly approaching, and with it, the end of the year.
If you have a flexible spending account or health savings account, you’ll have to use the pre-tax dollars you paid in by December 31 or risk losing the money when the calendar rolls over to 2015.
Fortunately, you can use your FSA dollars at Lone Star Vision to help yourself see better. While every plan is different, qualifying expenses may include:
- Eye health exams,
- Prescription glasses,
- Contact lenses,
- Prescription sunglasses,
- Laser vision correction,
- Computer eyeglasses.
Even if you think you see well, it’s important to have regular visits with one of our highly qualified optometrists. We can tell if you need you need your vision corrected with some sort of lens due to astigmatism, farsightedness, nearsightedness, strabismus or another condition. We can also determine if you have a eye disease like glaucoma or ocular melanoma that needs further treatment.
If we do recommend that you get corrective lenses, you can save money on eyewear by using the money you’ve stashed in your flexible spending account during 2014.
Since so many others also want to take advantage of their FSA funds before the end of the year, things get busy in our office during November and December. That’s why it’s important to call soon for an appointment. If you wait until the middle of December, it might be too late!
Also, be sure to let our office staff know about your major medical or vision insurance plan. That way, you’ll be sure to receive all the vision benefits you’re entitled to receive.
