Todd Brantley, O.D.
Dr. Todd Brantley grew up in Ft. Worth, Texas and lives in Celina with his wife, Wendy, and their daughter, Makenna. He received his Bachelors of Science degree and Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1999. Dr. Brantley is a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry and dedicated to expanding his knowledge and expertise though ongoing continuing education and training. He is passionate about helping people and recognized for the exceptional care he provides his patients.
As a contact lens specialist, Dr. Brantley utilizes the latest lens designs to help patients reach their highest level of success and freedom from glasses. He is among the first optometrists to fit the Paragon CRT contact lenses, a non-surgical alternative to vision correction. Dr. Brantley is a certified Optometric Glaucoma Specialist and manages various eye disorders such as dry eye syndrome, macular degeneration, diabetic-related eye conditions, and allergic conjunctivitis.
Serving the communities in which he lives and practices remains a priority to Dr. Brantley. He is a proud supporter of Optometry Giving Sight program and helped start the Grace Bridge Eye Clinic in Celina, which provides free exams to those in need of glasses. Dr. Brantley is an active member of Vision Source, Texas Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, Northeast Texas Optometric Society, Celina Chamber of Commerce, and Lifeway Church.
Dr. Brantley is an avid sports fan and kid-at-heart! In his spare time, you’ll find him playing, watching, or coaching sports. He excelled in sports and was a two-time All Conference pitcher at Howard Payne University.
Brad Hanstad, O.D.
Dr. Brad Hanstad, O.D. is a therapuetic optometrist, who grew up in North Dakota and relocated to Frisco in 2012, after practicing primary care optometry for 15 years. Experienced in managing many conditions of the eye, including: dry eye syndrome, allergic conjunctivitis, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and other retinal disorders, he has also co-managed LASIK and cataract surgeries. He has special interest in Contact Lenses and Sports Vision.
Dr. Hanstad received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Dickinson State University, and earned a Doctorate of Optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry, where he was named the Valedictorian of his class. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association, and Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society.
Dr. Hanstad enjoys spending time with his wife Robbyn and their five children. He played both golf and baseball in college and was a two-time all-conference short-stop, and named an Academic All-American his senior season. He and his family have made numerous mission trips to an orphanage in Brazil, providing eyecare to children in need. Dr. Hanstad is a welcome addition to our Lone Star Vision staff!
Paola Diaz, O.D.
Dr. Paola Diaz is a native Texan, born and raised in Houston, and eventually moving to Austin during her high school years. In Austin, she graduated from Westwood High School and she then attended The University of Texas at Austin where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology. Following her undergraduate degree, Dr. Diaz received her Optometry training from The University of Houston College of Optometry, completing the program with Magna Cum Laude distinction. Upon receiving her Doctorate in Optometry, she was selected among a competitive pool of applicants to participate in a one-year post-graduate residency program at Cedar Springs Eye Clinic (formerly known as BridgeBuilders) in Dallas where she had the opportunity to specialize in her passion, ocular disease.
Dr. Diaz, a therapeutic optometrist and glaucoma specialist, has extensive experience and training in ocular pathology where she has diagnosed, treated, and managed various stages of ocular diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, keratoconus, amblyopia, and age-related macular degeneration. She is also experienced in the treatment of dry eye, pre- and post- operative cataract management, and complex contact lens fittings for medical needs. Her work and experience has led to publishing and presenting cases to both the Texas Optometric Association and the American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Diaz is an active member in the American Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association, TOA New Grad Taskforce, Dallas County Optometric Society, and Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. She is fluent in Spanish, and outside of clinic, Dr. Diaz enjoys running, kick boxing, being outdoors, and spending time with her family. Dr. Diaz strives to provide superior eye care and looks forward to being your eye care provider.
Benjamin Lundeen, O.D.
Dr. Benjamin Lundeen is a licensed therapeutic optometrist and glaucoma specialist. He completed an externship focusing on ocular disease, including management of dry eye, ocular allergies, keratoconus, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. He is also highly skilled in fitting contact lenses and is passionate about optimizing each patient’s visual correction to fit their lifestyle.
Dr. Lundeen graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. He continued his education at Oklahoma College of Optometry, graduating with his Doctorate of Optometry in 2012 with Summa Cum Laude honors. Following graduation, Dr. Lundeen served on active duty in the United States Air Force, stationed as an optometrist at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. He considers it a privilege to have had the opportunity to take care of the many demanding visual needs of active duty service members, veterans, and their families. Dr. Lundeen continues to serve as an active member of the Texas Air National Guard. Since optometry school, Dr. Lundeen has been actively involved in serving medical missions. His time in the service has allowed him to lead medical missions to partnering countries including Honduras, Belize, Chile, and stateside outreach in mid-state New York.
Dr. Lundeen enjoys spending time with his wife Anna and three kids. In his spare time he enjoys music, being outdoors, and watching and/or playing sports. Dr. Lundeen is committed to your long-term ocular health needs and is excited to have you as a patient!
Kathryn Holley, O.D.
Dr. Kathryn Holley is a therapeutic optometrist who grew up in Plano, Texas and received her Bachelors degree from University of North Texas. Following her undergraduate education, she taught high school math at Arlington High School and then Plano Senior High School for three years before beginning her optometric education. She moved to Chicago to earn her Doctorate of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry. Dr. Holley is an active member of American Optometric Association and Texas Optometric Association.
Dr. Holley has experience managing a range of ocular conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration as well as treating corneal pathologies such as dry eye disease, foreign body removal, and bacterial infection. She completed a range of externship training in treating ocular disease, pediatrics, and co-managing post-surgical patients.
Outside of the clinic, she enjoys being a mom, reading, yoga, and playing tennis. Dr. Holley is excited to be back in Plano and providing excellent vision care at Lone Star Vision!
Jasmine Serna, O.D.
Dr. Jasmine Serna specializes in Vision Therapy and Pediatrics. She enjoys working with children and has a passion for treating and managing binocular vision disorders. Dr. Serna also treats and manages ocular health related conditions such as dry eye, conjunctivitis, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration.
Dr. Serna grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and graduated from Barry University in Miami, Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then attended Western University of Health Sciences in Southern California, where she earned her Doctorate of Optometry. Dr. Serna was a recipient of the Excellence in Vision Therapy Award and is a member of the American Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association, Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society, and College of Optometrists in Vision Development.
In her free time, she enjoys playing volleyball, spending time outdoors, and staying active. Dr. Serna is happy to be part of the Lone Star Vision team and serve her patients!
Dr. Michelle Essex
Dr. Michelle Essex is a licensed therapeutic optometrist. Dr. Essex is originally from Colorado and relocated to Texas, where she is enjoying the southern hospitality and amazing food choices the Dallas area has to offer. Dr. Essex is a graduate of Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, CA, where she was valedictorian of her class. She received her undergraduate degree from Union College in Lincoln, NE.
Dr. Essex began practicing Optometry in 2003 and joined Lone Star Vision in 2021. Dr. Essex likes all aspects of Optometry, but particularly enjoys kids exams and contact lens exams in the over 40 population. Problem Solving is one of her main strengths, which can come in very handy when it comes to prescribing glasses. She is also experienced in managing many conditions of the eye, such as dry eye syndrome, allergic conjunctivitis, diabetic eye disease, and many more.
Dr. Essex and her husband live in Plano with their three boys. All are involved in sports and particularly love basketball. Her oldest is playing basketball for her alma mater, Union College. As a family they love camping and riding ATV’s and motorcycles. Her hobbies include most anything related to sports, whether playing or watching. Exploring the many attractions in Texas will be a welcome distraction from a soon to be empty nest.
