Lenses for Glasses in Our Plano and Celina Optometry Clinics at Lone Star Vision

When most people come into our Plano or Celina optometry offices for a new pair of glasses, the first thing they want is to pick out a great frame. Getting a frame you love is important, but they're meant to be a decorative way to hold the key part of a pair of eyeglasses: the lenses. At Lone Star Vision, our eye doctors give every patient a comprehensive eye exam to determine what type of lens they need. We offer a wide variety of lens types designed to correct unusual vision problems as well as help work and leisure lifetime challenges.

Our Optometrists and Opticians Discuss Lens Types

There is no more one-size-fits-all pair of glasses. Our optometrists and opticians offer a wide variety of lens types, each of which is designed to help a different problems with your eyesight. Depending on your prescription, your work situation or your weekend lifestyle, there's a perfect lens to correct your eyesight. See which one is right for you.

Bifocal and Trifocal Lenses

As people get older, they often develop presbyopia, or the inability to see objects close up. To combat this, we offer bifocal lenses with prescriptions to correct both distance and near sight. For those patients who also need a third prescription for mid-range seeing, such as with computer monitors, there are trifocal lenses, as well.

Hi-Index Lenses

For patients with very strong prescriptions, hi-index plastic lenses can correct their eyesight with much less material. This eliminates the old "Coke-bottle" lens effect that used to be common with people with extreme nearsightedness. Not only are they more attractive, they're much lighter and more comfortable to wear than the older, heavier thick lenses.

Photochromic Lenses

For patients who spend a lot of time going in and out of doors, photochromic lenses eliminate the need for constantly changing from sunglasses to clear eyeglasses. These lenses darken into sunglasses by themselves then exposed to sunlight. They'll save you the cost of a separate pair of sunglasses, and eliminate the need for constantly carrying an extra pair.

Polarized Lenses

Polarized lenses remove the glare that's reflected off surfaces. They can be useful for combating computer vision syndrome as well as for those who work in environments with constant bright lights. For patients who are suffering from headaches and dry eyes, these can help cure the problem.

Polycarbonate Lenses

Polycarbonate lenses are impact-resistant, tough and a favorite among those who love sports or live an active lifestyle. Their resistance to breakage make them a natural choice for parents who need tough glasses for their children.

Progressive Lenses

Where bifocal and trifocal lenses have a clear line of demarcation showing where each prescription area begins, progressive lenses have a smooth area that gradually changes between the two. For the style conscious and for those who dislike the "older" look of traditional bifocal lenses, progressive lenses can be an attractive option.
