What Is LipiFlow?

LipiFlow is a noninvasive form of treatment that uses heat technology and pressure to safely eliminate blockages in the meibomian glands. Problems with these glands can cause tears to evaporate too quickly on the surface of your eyes, resulting in dryness and other symptoms.

How Does LipiFlow Work?

LipiFlow uses Vector Thermal Pulse Technology to gently apply heat and pressure to the meibomian glands in your inner eyelids. These glands are responsible for releasing oils that help prevent tears from drying up too fast on your eyes. When blockages form in these glands, you can end up with dry eyes. The heat and pressure that LipiFlow uses liquefy these blockages, which remove them from the glands and allows tears to stay on your eyes longer.

What Are the Benefits of LipiFlow?

LipiFlow provides a way to safely get rid of blockages in the meibomian glands. Since it is a non-invasive treatment, you do not need to worry about having any kind of surgical procedure to remove these blockages. The LipiFlow device is designed to keep your eyes protected from the heat that it emits. It also regulates the amount of pressure on your eyes during this treatment. LipiFLow also offers a drug-free way to treat meibomian gland obstruction in order to relieve dry eyes, so that you do not have to rely on medicated eye drops or other medications.

Is LipiFlow Safe?

LipiFlow is considered a safe form of treatment to relieve symptoms of dry eyes. Since the device regulates pressure and heat, your eyes are not at risk of damage during treatment.
